Artist Bio

Tielin Liu was born in Suzhou, China. He spent much of his early artistic career capturing the waterways, architecture, and daily life of Suzhou. The influences of his scenic hometown are evident through many of his oil paintings. 

In 1988, Tielin moved to Memphis, Tennessee to continue his artistic pursuits. His work has been widely displayed in galleries, museums, and art shows across the country. In addition to oil paintings, Tielin is also well known for his contemporary mixed medias. These are often larger pieces of art that showcase his talent in using non-traditional techniques and materials. 

In 2020, Tielin moved north up the Mississippi River to be closer to his daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandsons who help him with his art and provide endless inspiration. The artist currently splits his time between Suzhou China and St. Paul, MN, and his work can be viewed at shows in and around the Twin Cities.
